Did you know that you have the power to shape the weather?
I don’t mean the weather outdoors, although I’m sure we’d all love it if we could control the humidity.
I’m talking about the weather at work—the culture of your organization—which is affected by every word you say.
Say you notice a major error on an important project your team is working on. Your instinct might be to react with, “This is a complete disaster! We’ll never be able to fix this in time.”
But what if you said this instead? “We have a problem with this project. And it’s pretty serious, so it may be a challenge, but it’s nothing our team can’t handle.”
Do you see the difference?
One raises the temperature in the room. The other lowers it.
In this short video, I share insights on how our language creates and shapes the weather, and what you can do as a leader to ensure your team has what they need to think clearly and succeed.
