When you get stuck during change, we are often not prepared to handle it! One way to get ‘unstuck’ is to examine past strategies that worked for you and analyze whether those same methods can be used again in the present.
Here are three questions you can ask yourself when you get stuck during change:
- In which other situation did I handle change well?
- What skills, abilities, or attributes helped me handle the change?
- How can I apply those skills and abilities to this current situation?
The situations don’t even need to be similar, as your underlying strengths are transferable. In some cases, you can use the same approaches to solve parallel problems and get positive results.
Sometimes, you have to be prepared to be unprepared and draw on your past experience.
This builds your capacity for dealing with uncertainty!
